Release Liner

Silicone-Free Release LinerNew

Our newest release solution: a liner with a non-silicone release system, on a paper or film base, for processes where even traces of silicone can cause paint, coating or bonding defects.

All release liners

What it is

Standard release liners rely on silicone, and tiny amounts can transfer to the adhesive or the part. In most applications that is harmless, but in paint shops, coating lines and sensitive electronics, silicone contamination can cause craters and fish-eyes in paint, poor adhesion of coatings and inks, or problems with soldering, wire bonding and electrical contacts.

Silicone-free release liner replaces the silicone with a non-silicone release system, taking the liner out of the equation as a source of silicone. It is offered on a paper base for easy handling and economical converting, or on a film base when you need a flatter, smoother liner that stays stable in humid conditions. Non-silicone release can behave differently from silicone, so it is qualified on your adhesive — tell us your adhesive and downstream process, and we will work with you to confirm the right construction.

Construction

  1. Non-silicone release coating
  2. Paper or film base
  3. Back face: plain or coated to suit

When to choose it

  • Parts are painted, coated, printed or bonded after the liner is removed
  • Your customer or process specifies silicone-free materials
  • Silicone traces could affect solderability, contacts or optics in electronics
  • You want to rule out the liner as a source of recurring surface defects
  • Your process calls for a paper liner for economy, or a film liner for flatness and humidity stability

Key properties

  • No silicone in the release system
  • Helps protect paint, coating and bonding quality downstream
  • Release confirmed by trial on your adhesive
  • Paper base for easy handling, or film base for a flat, smooth, humidity-stable liner
  • Qualified with you for each application

Typical applications

  • Automotive components painted or coated after the liner is removed
  • Electronics assembly where silicone contamination must be avoided
  • Printing, coating and laminating processes
  • Tapes and labels for silicone-restricted production areas

Configured to your needs

  • Paper or film base
  • Release level matched to your adhesive
  • Paper weight or film thickness, and colour
  • Coated side(s) to suit the construction
  • Slit to width, sheeted or die-cut
  • Joint qualification on your adhesive and process
