Release Liner
PE-Coated Kraft Release Paper (PEK)
Kraft paper sealed with polyethylene and finished with silicone — a flat, moisture-resistant paper liner widely used for transfer tapes, double-sided tapes and die-cut converting.
What it is
PE-coated kraft release paper — often called PEK or poly-coated kraft — is a kraft paper base sealed with a polyethylene (PE) layer, typically on both faces, and finished with a silicone release coating. The PE closes the paper's surface, giving a smooth, even base for the silicone and a barrier against moisture.
The result is a paper liner that behaves much more like a film: it lies flat, resists curl in humid conditions and releases consistently, while keeping the stiffness, tear resistance and cost advantage of paper over film. It is a long-established workhorse for transfer tapes, double-sided tapes and die-cut converting.
Construction
- Silicone release coating
- PE layer
- Kraft paper

When to choose it
- You want paper-liner economics with film-like flatness and stability
- Liners are stored or used in humid, tropical conditions where plain paper curls
- You make transfer, double-sided or foam tapes that go on to die-cut converting
- Converters need a stiff, tear-resistant liner for rotary and flatbed die-cutting
- A smooth, sealed surface is needed for an even, predictable release
Key properties
- PE barrier limits moisture pick-up and curl
- Smooth, sealed surface for uniform silicone coverage
- Good stiffness and tear resistance for converting and dispensing
- Easy to tight release, single- or double-side silicone
- Lies flat for sheeting and die-cutting
- Suited to moderate process temperatures — PE softens under high heat
Typical applications
- Transfer (adhesive-only) tapes
- Double-sided tissue, film and foam tapes
- Die-cut gaskets, pads and labels
- Self-adhesive foam and rubber sheets
- Industrial labels and graphic films
- Hygiene products such as diapers and sanitary pads
Configured to your needs
- Paper and PE weight to suit stiffness and handling
- PE on one or both faces
- Single- or double-side silicone, including differential release
- Release level — easy, medium or tight
- White or coloured base, gloss or matte finish
- Slit to width, sheeted or die-cut
