Release Liner
Glassine Release Paper
Supercalendered glassine with a silicone release coating — a dense, smooth, translucent paper liner for labels, double-sided tapes and interleaving, including double-side silicone grades.
What it is
Glassine is made from highly refined pulp and then supercalendered — pressed between polished rolls under heat and pressure — until it forms a dense, smooth, low-porosity and translucent sheet. That closed surface takes a thin, even silicone coating without needing a PE layer.
Glassine release paper is thin yet strong for its weight, die-cuts cleanly and runs well on fast label and tape lines, and its translucency suits optical gap sensing in automatic label dispensing. Double-side silicone glassine, often in brown, is a common liner for double-sided tissue and other tapes that wind on themselves.
Construction
- Silicone release coating
- Supercalendered glassine paper
- Second silicone coating (double-side grades)
When to choose it
- You need a thin, dense paper liner with a smooth release face
- Labels are dispensed automatically and the liner must work with optical sensors
- You make double-sided tapes that wind on themselves and need release on both faces
- You prefer paper to film but need a smoother face than standard kraft
- Clean die-cutting and matrix stripping are critical on your line
Key properties
- Dense, low-porosity surface for an even silicone coat
- Thin, and strong for its weight
- Translucent — suits optical label sensing
- Single- or double-side silicone, easy to tight release
- Good die-cutting and matrix-stripping behaviour
- Paper responds to humidity — best stored in stable conditions
Typical applications
- Self-adhesive label rolls for automatic dispensing
- Double-sided tissue and film tapes
- Interleaving for adhesive sheets, pads and stacks
- Hygiene and personal-care closures
- Envelope and courier-bag seal strips
- Die-cut parts and decals
Configured to your needs
- Brown, white or coloured glassine
- Single- or double-side silicone
- Release level — easy, medium or tight; differential on double-side grades
- Paper weight to suit the construction
- Slit to width or sheeted
